edgar-traps
Guards against quiet errors in filing extracts
What it is
A dependency-free Python package of checks for SEC filing data that another client has already fetched. Each function takes filings or text you supply and flags a quiet failure, such as a Form 4 about a different issuer, a holdings notice that contains no positions, a ticker whose older filings stayed on a previous CIK, or a going-concern hit that only quotes the accounting rule. Research developers who publish figures from EDGAR and want those cases caught before a number goes out are the audience. It does not download filings, and the set of checks is a fixed catalog of known traps rather than a general parser.
