Python library for structured SEC EDGAR filings
What it is
An open-source Python library that turns SEC EDGAR filings into structured data, covering income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, insider trades, 13F holdings, 8-K events, and more than twenty other form types as typed objects and pandas DataFrames. XBRL-standardized financials support cross-company comparison, and built-in rate-limit handling, caching, an MCP server, and LLM-ready text make it usable in data pipelines and AI workflows. Quant developers and analysts who want programmatic access to US filings without manual parsing will find it a good fit. The library covers only SEC EDGAR filings, so it does not provide market price data or non-US sources, and users must supply an email address for SEC identification with each request.
