Python library for real-time stock and option quotes
What it is
A small Python library for monitoring and analysing real-time stock and option data. It returns prices and option chains, computes implied volatility and greeks such as delta and vega with minimal input, and scrapes the US Treasury website for the current risk-free rate; historical prices can be downloaded into pandas. Quotes come from the Google Finance API by default, with Yahoo Finance as an alternative source whose quotes may be delayed. Developers who want quick option analytics in a script or notebook are the natural audience, but the library depends entirely on those free quote sources staying available.
