buried-events-parser
Regex checks for events buried in 8-K filings
What it is
A dependency-free Python parser takes SEC Form 8-K HTML you already hold and compares the item codes the filer reported with keyword hits in the body text. It converts the document to text, finds item sections, and flags phrases for events such as cybersecurity incidents, officer departures, or bankruptcy when they sit under a broader item such as Other Events. Fundamental analysts and developers who want a local screen they can audit before reading the filing are the audience. Matching is regular expressions rather than a language model, so false positives are part of the design, image-only filings cannot be read, and nothing here downloads documents or sends alerts.
