Japanese official statistics for Python and assistants
What it is
A Python client and local MCP server for e-Stat, Japan's official statistics portal. It searches tables by keyword, reads metadata for items, classifications, time and region, then fetches values with filters and pagination, exporting them as typed objects or as Polars and pandas frames. Analysts and assistants who need population, national accounts, prices, labor or trade series can query the portal from code or from a desktop assistant config after a free application id is set. The series are Japanese government statistics rather than company filings, large extracts stop at a caller-chosen page cap, and the client throttles requests to stay within the portal's rules.
